I''ve just uploaded the first version of my freeware tile map editor, Cornutopia Mapper. The program is quite comprehensive and can use tiles of any size from 1 to 128 pixels (including rectangular). There is a separate brush palette for copy buffers, and lots of other neat features like multiple layers and support for many possible map formats. I''ve put quite a lot of work into it basically.
