Importing LightWave objects?

Hello everyone, I was just wondering what the best way to import a LightWave object into a OpenGL engine would be? Also, could the image maps, procedural textures and even subpatches/bézier splines be kept intact?

Find the file format at Wotsit.org and begin to write a loader. I know.. It stinks but such is the life of a programmer.
