HW TnL with Riva TNT2

Hey, what''s up? I was wondering if anyone could help me out. I am new to Direct3D programming and have a problem: when going thru my engine intialization routines, I am unable to create a device that supports HW TnL, and always get a Hal SWVP device with a debug msg indicating that my driver can not perform HW TnL. I am using a Riva TNT2 with the latest Nvidia drivers which, as far as I know, should be capable of HW TnL. Any ideas...?

The NVIDIA TNT 2 has not Hardware TnL.
If it had TNL it where to slow, even a geforce2 mx is too slow(a 1000 Mhz CPU is faster)
Fixed fuction vertex processing is not flexible enough for bumpmapping and good skinning.

Use Software Vertexshader can be a better choise.
