Hi.. I''d like to let you know about my new mathematical software called Math Studio. It''s totally freeware. You can find it here. Since it''s not commercial and I don''t consider it as a spam I please the great moderator (I dont want you to strumble at this straw you have called yourself this way once) to not remove this post immediately --------- Dave

Very Nice

Since it is non-comercial, would you consider releasing any source code?

I personally would be very interested in the mesh generation, and the interpreter code (for an open source program that I am working on, which is a bit similar to your MathStudio).

Initially, I was commertial. But it isn''t anymore .. I have changed my mind

Hm, releasing source codes - not a good idea since this was a learning project (my 1st bigger project) the code is very messed. So I better don''t release it.

If you want I''d send you some code snippets [eg. whole generating of meshes, I guess you are interesten especially in implicit ones]. Maybe you could use something from it. Mail me what u want.

New version I''m working on will be more similar to the Mathematica. I hope I''d be able to finish it. I have already done some basic kernel classes.

Personally if you are open to the idea of Open Source then now is the time to do it. That stuff you think you ought to do before releasing the source is most likely a good task to bring a new team member up to speed. Unlike adding functionality it isn''t something you have to have done though it may make things easier if it is done. So it gives you a way to test a new team member to see if they actually deliver or wander off instead.

I'm glad you all like Math Studio .. and who wouldn't be..

I'm not going to release source code to this version of Math Studio. The development on in has been stopped. And as I wrote above, the code is quite and I don't think anyone could ever read it. And it'd be very hard to extend this Math Studio.

I agree with Open Source but Math Studio is not going to be Open Source, yet. I could release as soon as the main core will be working. I have a deadline on 1st week in March, because I want to take a part in one high school competition with new Math Studio. So I hope I'd be able to finish it.

By the way ... don't you know about some sites where can I put Math Studio's link in to let peple know about it?

Geez, you''re in High School? Look forward to seeing what you are doing by the time you get out of college. I''m not sure when I''ll have time to work through it, but when I do I''ll send you a list of things I find. It will just be small things like that the description on the step forward is in english, but step backwards is "Snimek Vzad". Basically things that obviously got overlooked. If I find anything that actually crashes it or flat out doesn''t work correctly I''ll of course mention that as well.

It just won''t be anything like this feature or that would be nice. If I do that then it will be later after I''ve used it for awhile. Considering where you are at and what you are doing I would want those type of suggestions to be fairly easily implemented while having a substantial impact on usability as well as providing detailed explaination of what I mean such as providing a mock up. That takes a more detailed understanding of the program as well as more time to prepare.

Playing with it the bit I have shows a few features I wish some of my commercial packages had. Two specific things are the automatic rotation and being able to use equations involving constants like pi in the defining the intervals.

I''d like to see a Unix version of this

I''d like to see it too. But I''m not familiar enough with Unix. I''ll do what I can to do next version portable to Linux and Unix.

Fixed

LilBudyWizer, I''m looking forward to read your suggestions. I''m not sure if all of them will appear in this version, but I''ll try to implement them in new version.
