3D Collision detection in Dx8.1...?

Greetings. How do I detect for polygon collision. I have managed to load and display objects with textures, under joystick/keyboard control, but my car drives through the track! I presume it has something to do with the BoundingBox functions D3DXCreateBoundingBox() and D3DXBoundBoxProbe(), but how?

D3DXBoxBoundProbe does a line segment-to-box test. i don''t think there''s a box-to-box D3DX utility function for DX8. i''ve used Eberly''s code for this in the past. you can find an OBB-OBB intersection function at http://www.magic-software.com/Intersection3D.html.
