Hello,
if (SDL_Init(SDL_INIT_TIMER | SDL_INIT_AUDIO | SDL_INIT_VIDEO)<0) {
  printf("Couldn''t initialize SDL: %s\n",SDL_GetError());
  return false;
}

I get Fatal signal: Segmentation Fault (SDL Parachute Deployed) if esd is running. If I close esd the it works well. And this is only if SDL_INIT_AUDIO flag is used. What does SDL use for sounds in Linux? I''d like it to return error instead of crashing like this.

The failure come actually later in Mix_OpenAudio (I''m using SDL_mixer). It never returns there.

if (Mix_OpenAudio(44100,MIX_DEFAULT_FORMAT,2,audio_buffers)<0) {
printf("Failed to open audio: %s\n",Mix_GetError());
return false;
}

You might want join the SDL mailing listing and ask your question there.

I don''t remember the address, but a link is found on the SDL homepage.
