problem with gl headers when compiling

I'm working out of a gametutorials lesson on creating a camera class. I added its header and source file to a simple project in VS just to make sure it would compile. It's something in the camera.h file. If I include glu.h I get scores of errors for the gl.h file like "int APIENTRY redefinition" and "int WINGDIAPI redefinition". If I comment it out, those errors disappear. If I include windows.h, used by one of the functions, I get a number of errors in winbase.h or windef.h The websites tutorial files compile just fine too.
