help with the Zen book of direct3d

ok in the book "Zen of Direct3d Programming" he goes and creates a "zenEngine" and well i understand how it works basicly BUT i cant get the Frames Per Sec to go higher then 60 and i havent added any code its just a shell why i have changed the d3dpp part to DISCARD instead of COPY which got it to go from 7 fps to 60 plz help and what other books r good for learning how to use direct3d any ver Im a Idiot Savant without the Savant

hmmm i thought the v-sync setting was what i did when i changed a var from _COPY_VSYNC to _DISCARD i dont have the code in front of me so i dont remember the whole line just what i changed it from and to is that the v-sync you r talking about ????

i have this book and started with his engine the code you should look at is in the frame counter its been a long time sence i usded this book and i am not at home but i had the same issue.
the value of this book is very short for is price.

Make sure V-Sync is turned off in your video card display properties, as well.
