Hi, I''m using Blender for the first time and I''m unable to load .3ds files. Do I have to pay any money to be able to load these files?

I don''t know if there is a plugin for .3ds files or not, and if there is, it will be free.
check www.elysiun.com, in the python & plugin forum
also you might find something at www.blender.org

If those turn up useless, there is a .obj import script that works wonders, it''s at the elysiun site. I think 3DMax can export to .obj?
If you have Max, save your files as obj files. Then go the python forum at www.elysiun.com. There is a plugin there that will load obj files.

If you don''t have Max, get crossroads and convert the files.
Will .wrl files work just as well as .obj files?

Crossroads converts .3ds to .wrl and Blender opened the .wrl file.

I have nevered uses wrml files with Blender so I don''t know what to tell you. If it works, use it.

Go the forums and www.elysiun.com and ask there. A lot more Blender users there who may be able to give you a better answer.
