how expensive are glmult matrix calls?

i am just wondering because when i use bone animated models and set a new translation matrix for the links how much would that slow everything down? wouldn t it be fast when i precalculate the vertices for the keyframes and render these instead?

a slow computer should handle enuf glMultMatrixs that u want to call a frame easy.
but dont call it per vertex. but 10x for a model is ok + will not decrease fps

when you have 20 bones?

a friend told me he calculates the vertex position for each bone in realtime an then renders them

but i don t know how many different models you can handle that way
