Visual Basic for games?

Recommended Posts

I know people say that VB doesn''t have the speed to create games but I would really like to try it because it was my first programming lanuage and I''ve been using for about 5 years. Is this idea hopeless? I do know C++ but not as well. I did read "Tricks of the windows...." and understand it pretty well, but sometimes I''m just a little confused. Thanks. DarkNebula

I read a book years ago called the black art of VB games programming (or something like that). Is it good for writing games? Not really. Is it good for learning the concepts? Sure. It wouldn''t hurt to make a few games in VB if thats what your more comfortable with, to get used to the concepts and ideas involved, especially as you''ll likely get them done quickly and have more confidence in yourself while doing so. Then you can move back to C++ and just work out how to apply the concepts you''ve mastered to that language for more advanced games.
