Build a detail background with 3D soft, render pics with desired camera position, for display use.

Then build a very low-poly background, for collision detect and events, and data of the same camera position of the detail background.

bring the above things together, this is the basic concept.

Which OpenSource GameEngine for PC is Bestest?

(ogre,neoengine,Crystal space or another)

em... i only know PS2 is using OpenGL for graphics, then i know nothing,..

i dont know which opensource engine is best, i build my own.
