Had the same problem in Managed DirectX 9!
The solution was to create the texture in the MANAGED pool, perhaps that helps here too!

Have fun

the crash occurs into D3DXFindClosestDeviceFormat(), which apparently and internal (not public) function of D3DX.

What do you mean by "managed pool"? I''m using the following call:

D3DXCreateTextureFromResourceEx(device, _Module.GetModuleInstance(), MAKEINTRESOURCE(res_id), D3DX_DEFAULT, D3DX_DEFAULT, D3DX_DEFAULT, 0, D3DFMT_A8R8G8B8, D3DPOOL_MANAGED, filter, filter,D3DCOLOR_RGBA(0,128,128,255), NULL, NULL, texture )

so i''m using the D3DPOOL_MANAGED parameter.

This problem is probably dependent on what card/driver you are using. You should send a description of the problem, along with the description of your system from DXDiag, to directx@microsoft.com.
