I''m writing a teeny little RTS, and it involves a camera floating above a little 3D island, directing units around. Right now, I direct units around using a grid. (player presses "G" and grid slides on to screen. You give orders on this screen) sort of like the map in urban assault. I was wondering if there''s an /easy/ way to transfer a click on the screen to a 3D coordinate, to see what object It hits? I originally thought of using raycasting, to send a ray out from wherever the click was on the screen, until it hit an object, but that''s to slow (and my code sucks too, so, :-) )
