Whenever I try to install my old copy of Visual C++ 6 on my new computer (with XP), it gives me a "Must first run the Installation Wizard before running this setup", and I did use the Installation Wizard. Also, the program does install on my old 98 computer. I followed the Microsoft help files, because this happened on NT also, but nothing working. Anybody have a solution?

I just installed VC++ 6 on an XP machine last night without a single problem.
Hmm... it works for me too, with VC6 and Windows XP... only problem was that it bailed out when I tried to install InterDev since that required IIS, which isn''t included in XP Home. Oh well...
Yeah, works for me too, I''ve been running VC++ 6.0 since August, so has everyone else in my class. Have you done all the XP service packs? Thats really the only thing I can think of if it won''t install at all. If it''s installing and not running, you need the service pack for VC++
try installing sp1
