I know this forum doesn''t get a lot of traffic but, what are the similarities between PS2 Linux development and regular PS2 development. Would learning PS2 Linux dev. help in learning PS2 dev.? If anyone has done any PS2 Linux dev. how is the support. I saw one guy talk about it at an IGDA meeting and it seems a very little explored or supported part of PS2 development. Thanks, Matt ============================== Matt Knowles Programmer/Game Developer www.mak-tech.com ==============================

For the most part it''s similar to a regular devkit for the PS2 in that you get direct hardware access to almost everything. The difference is that for some parts (IOP, etc) you have to call Sony''s code to get access to them. You can get around this, but then you''d have to know the register addresses for the IOP and such if you want to access them yourself.

Also, what ever you create can only be played back on a PS2 Linux kit, which kind of makes sharing your stuff with others a lot more restricted.
