YoshiN: 8x4 == 32 .... 32x1 == 32.

You can cram four pixels of an 8bpp image into the same amount of mem one 32bpp pixel eats.
How can moving more data, be faster!??

Using 8bpp images around will always be faster. Its less ''stuff''!

Wouldnt it be feasible nowdays to make a polygon based adventure game? You could make every scene as a separate model, with a defined camera position and such.

This way you dont have to worry about handling when your main character walks behind something, or fullscreen blits.
