Whats the best way to do this? I want to (preferably) use a 3d file format wildly used (say vrml objects). IS there source code on how to parse these types of files and construct the 3d object in memory. Even better if its related to opengl (which is what i plan to use). cheers. adam

Hi,

I just went through this in my own engine. I have support for .obj files and .asc files. I am working on the parsers for .3ds and .md2 Check this site and the Milkshape3d site for more information. Also most 3d file formats that are in ASCII format are easily readable with notepad. Just look at the file. All the info should be there. Then just use the normal file reading and parsing functions and you should be fine. If you have a problem keep working on it. I worked forever on this and got quite upset at my computer quite a few times
