I''m using directdraw and now I wont to draw an image on the backbuffer with a trancparency of 50 per cent. How do I do that?

Unfortunately DirectDraw doesn''t support other transparencies than colorkeying, in other words you can''t do that with DirectDraw. You can implement a routine yourself that draws with 50% transparency. Or you can do as I do, use Direct3D to do the blitting for you with alpha blending.

DirectDraw''s Blt still does lack of an alpha-blending capability (i.e. it exists but it''s not implemented, yet).

You have to implement the alpha-blending blitting routine by yourself. Luckily, since you need 50% transparency, this can be done very efficiently.

Check the tutorial in GameDev archive for more details...
