Hi lipheng

"Can Power Render be used for GIS functionality like zoom in and zoom out, panning? Can power Render accept terrain with formats like shapefile, dgn, dem??"

I am not sure what GIS stands as for zooming in and out you should be able to get the telephoto effect of zooming in or out by adusting Power Renders Camera FOV function. There is a function for setting the field of view in term of degress.

As for terrain types the current terrain is unique that is it use an editor called Land Scape Studio which is used to setup the terrain and generate the terrain. Plus there are other important features as well. Basically it use a fractal generated height map and one single big texture Although the current terrain engine was designed for scripted levels that is the landscape is engine is not infinite and has no paging ability.

As result of the limitation of the current terrain engine, a new Terrain engine is currently being developed by Chris Egerter as an alternate terrain engine to the old one.

Although this is our old forum you might want to visit our new
Power Render forum at http://www.3dengine.ca/forums/ probably some of your question are already answered there or maybe you can post some more question and get an answer by Chris or by one of the forum members.

The main Power Render site is http://www.egerter.com/
