When I enabled alpha blending and I draw a triangle with the alpha values set to 0.5 or whatever and without a texture, it works fine. But when I use a texture, the alpha channel is ignored? What''s wrong?

When the texture is created you must specify in a flag that it has an alpha channel. Unfortunately I don''t remember exactly how to do that.

Alternatively you can use D3DX when creating you texture. It automatically detects the alpha channel.

I understand that you want to display a textured triangle, but are you trying to use an alpha channel (where the transparency information is encoded in the texture) or alpha colors (specifying alpha values in the diffuse color of the vertices)?
