Teaching non-programmers DirectX

Next week, I will have a speech for my English class. The subject must be something about computing. Now here comes my question: do you think it''s possible to give a speech about DirectX to a teacher who has never written a line of code and a bunch of students with a limited knowledge of VB? How would you set about this? Or do you think this is just an insane idea?

No I "teached" RSA encryption to a bunch of non-science students in a second language class
I teleported home one night; With Ron and Sid and Meg; Ron stole Meggie's heart away; And I got Sydney's leg. <> I'm blogging, emo style
Don''t teach them how to program DX. It would be cool if you talked about how the API works at a higher level and how it compares to other APIs
DirectX is big, big, big... What aspects do you wish to cover? I think if you choose the parts you explain wisely, you won''t have a problem. just don''t go down into thechnical parts (no functions, no variables, just the overall architecture and principles).

I think I''m going to talk about DirectDraw and some general 2D graphics principles (surfaces, pallettes,blitting,...).

Maybe something about COM too...
Not good. Last year I talked about AI, and nobody seemed interested. Relate it with something else more common to these people, such as games or animation or movies. So, don't talk about hardcore DirectX. Give them some ideas how animation works, such as backbuffer, frames, color key (so they know why people use "blue" as a background color in making movies).

Screw things that are directly programming-related.
Anyone who might actually be interested have alrdy started
to learn, or knows it.

MFC is sorta like the swedish police... It''''s full of crap, and nothing can communicate with anything else.
TNX everybody. Now I feel confident to tackle my speech. And it _will_ be about DirectX (not about Internet Porn, my first idea).
