Question about Terrain and a SkyBox

Recommended Posts

I have terrain with a sky box Everything works great on lower size maps, but when incrase the scale rate to make the terrain alot bigger and such, the when i get further way, l ike i am on one side of the map and i am trying to see the other, the sky box is constantly taking over the terrain, like i run realy fast looking backwards and i see the sky box just taking the terrain and all i see is the sky box in stead of the terrain which i should.. So i turned on Depth Checking for the sky box and that didnt help one bit, so i am stuck theere, and also i also tried to chance the number in gluPerspective thinking that would do something for the far plane, it didnt do anything.. and another question, on HUGE maps, i mean huge, instead of the sky box taking over the terrain, it just like bliacks out, its hard to explain, the sky box becomes broken up into like pieces and it looks horrible and i havent changed any code there... yeah.. thanks.. just one more thing, does anyone have an example of terrain that use some kind of interpolation to slow you down when you are running up a hill and speed you up when you are running down.. thanks alot

I think on really big maps its going to cut it off like you said because it goes to farr back, and otu of the field of view.... like with the box tutorials if i make the box move really far back at one point it starts blinking, then just dissapears.

That is what i thought of first, i went to gluPerspective() and changed the far plane to a higher amount so that wouldnt happen and it didnt change anything.

thanks for the reply
