Mesuring Framerate and other stuff in OpenGL

Hello, I''m doing my a study on performance useing diffrent OpenGL implementation in Java, (GL4Java, java3d for now) and compareing them to OpenGL using C/C++. And I intrested in how I can messure the framerate of the testing I will do. Aslo I would be intrested in ides on what would be good test to do for messuring the power of opengl so I can get some resoult that shows if there is any loss using java insted of C/C++... my email is na00lmn@student.hig.se any ides are welcome.

gametutorials.com has an example of calculating framerate under its opengl section. There are more exact ways to do it, but its a good start

The Java programs should be inherently slower because of the JRE needed to ensure cross-platform compatibility. Of course depending on the implementation of the OpenGL program (i.e. using glut) this may have other issues also.
