curious about various scripting languages and how fast they are and the best for game implementation. I''m debating between lua and python. Are there any others i should take a look at? Thanks, Andy

As an estimate on speed, I believe that UnrealScript runs about 15 time slower than the normal code. A guide to the technical aspects of unrealscript can be found at unreal.epicgames.com/UnrealScript.htm .

Why not just write a simple test framework?
Theory is one thing, but profiling can give you a much better
idea of performance.
For simple scripts that are rarely called by the host program
I suppose there shouldn''t be a significant difference, though
there are many things to keep in mind like pre-compiled versus
interpreted scripts, do the scripts perform a significant part
of the game logic or are they used as some kind of add-on
(configuration, customization, etc.) aso.

Just my 0.02€,
Pat
