Should be an easy question, Is there some FVF that I can use for my vertices that can let me 'darken' a textured vertex? if not, how could I darken textured vertices? Thanks Edit: Btw, I'd like to do this in DirectX 9 (or 8.1) [edited by - Xtremehobo on March 16, 2003 1:53:03 PM]

If you are using a diffuse color in your vertices, just make it a darker color.

struct Vertex
{
D3DXVECTOR3 Position;
DWORD Color;
D3DXVECTOR2 TexCoords;

};

#define FVF (D3DFVF_XYZ|D3DFVF_DIFFUSE|D3DFVF_TEX1)

then you can change the color of your vertex manually.

Vertex vert;

vert.Color=D3DCOLOR_RGBA(120,120,120,255);

This would darken your texture also.

If you are not using a diffuse color, just change it in the material.
