Correct; but using a free library (like TinyXML) you can get it to tokenise and parse the file for you. All you have to do then is map the element attributes to variables, each of which probably takes one line of code. Your resulting code will be shorter (and largely already tested for you).
I wouldn''t say it''s worth moving from your own plain-text format to XML, but if you need to formulate a new format, then you may as well use XML because it''s there and well-supported.
