Shadows on Skinned Meshes

I have generated volumnic shadows and I have skinned mesh animation. Now I''m trying to combine the two. The shadow that I''m creating with this is the shadow of the model in its original position...its not animating. I think I how the problem, in that I''m not looking at the offset matrix for each bone. Is there somewhere I could go to find help on doing this, some tutorial perhaps? Also, running these shadows doesn''t half kill me FPS. Any way of reducing this over-processing?? Thanks, D.
