Different veiws and ways to display the character/world

I plan to create a text based game (s you may have guessed from the multitude of posts... anyone tell me if I can delete them). For this game, I want text input, but the ability to watch player actions on an above screen. For this reason, the graphical display will basicly be a movie. So I am wondering, what would be the best veiw for pertraying the player? veiws could be split, showing players location, enemys, current and actions... would good views be isometric, first person?
