Problem with diffuse colors.

Im having some trouble getting my colors to work when I draw a static mesh and a quad with a RHW value, at the same time. The mesh always renders correctly, but the quad loses its diffuse color and comes out in black. If I render the quad by itself it has its vertex colors which are all RED. But as soon as I render with the static mesh, all vertex colors are lost in the quad. What am I not doing right?

Are you setting *all* the relevant states?

Things like D3DRS_VERTEXCOLORENABLE, D3DRS_DIFFUSEMATERIALSOURCE, D3DRS_LIGHTING, D3DRS_SPECULARENABLE, D3DRS_FOGENABLE... (and of course all the necessary TSS settings)
