DirectPlay Voice with positional audio

I was just curious if there was a way to pipe voice streams from directplay voice into positional 3d audio sources. The application for this idea would be using the voices from players'' microphones and having these sounds originate from the heads of their player models, using proximity and such to have only nearby characters hear other characters. Anyone have any luck with something like this or find a way to do it?
