I''m working on a Direct3D powered platformer, and I want my characters to be (essentially) flat polygon models. Does anybody no of any existing 2D polygon modelling/animation programs that are available. This would save me a hell of a lot of development time!!

No. He''s talking about flat polygon models.

I doubt there are any (well-) done programs and you''d still have to write an exporter. Making your own tools will most likely be much better.

If you just want some quick animations to mess around with then just take your favourite 3D-modeller and ignore the third dimension.

Yes, what I''m talking about is something like a flattened quake model. Although the game is Direct3D accelerated, its not actually a 3D game. The characters will be made from connected texture polygons that can be animated once and skinned many times.
