Progressive Meshes and One VB

I have 50 small meshes (less than 400 verts in each) in my game. I have sucsessfully placed them all into one Vertex buffer and individual index buffers. Now I need to optimize... I made progressive meshes (with ten LODs each) of the 50 small meshes. I''ve been trying to put all the progressive meshes into one VB, like before, and have noticed that each progressive mesh, regardless of LOD uses the same Vertex buffer (which makes sence, so I dont need to store the same vertexs more than once). This is great, but the index Buffer of each of the ten is also the same!! How can I extract my Index Buffer for each of the Base LODs? thanks for all replies.
