So, I decided to learn some graphics with C++. And to accomplish that, I figured I''d do a simple 2D strategy game. Well, I have gotten through drawing the map, some objects on it, selection, alpha blending and all that nice stuff. Now, I was going to make a GUI for the game. But I am not sure how to go about it. Is there a good tutorial on GUIs with OpenGL / GLUT? One idea I had was to essentially make the interface the same way as the game contents themselves - drawing the buttons manually and listening to mouse events and everything. But it just seems a little strange. Is there maybe a set of standard classes, that allow for more or less customizable widgets, like buttons, labels, and such? Kind of like the javax.swing package in Java? Thanks in advance for the help.

So, if GLUT is so limited with GUIs what would I use to make ''em for a C++ app? (Which doesn''t use MFC, that is.) I mean, it doesn''t really matter that much what set of libraries I am using, since I am just trying to learn stuff. Thus, I would go with whatever is easier / more effective. :D
