I''m not aware of any one real place to get information on creating an IRC Client, but you''ll need to know some of this:

Sockets programming
IRC Protocol (possibly CTCP Protocl, if you wish to implement that as well)
String interpretation

Really, all it breaks down to is that your client ("bot") needs to be able to take apart the strings sent from the IRC Server and decide what to do with it.

Oh yeah, and be sure to reply to the server PING message with a PONG. Trust me on this, it will save you a ton of headaches on why your bot keeps getting diconnected

I had a reference for the éIRC protocol...

BTW... Be prepared to some HEAVY GODDAM HEAVY parsing..... I hate that protocol

irc documents are called rfc in general... theres a lot... and yeah, youll need to learn CTCP and DCC if you want to.

Oh by the way... look at TCL too, I''m not too sure what it is, but bot uses that I think, or is it just a thing that eggdrop uses.

BTW, just tought I''d note it. Eggdrop is too IRC Bots what Ford is to Cars
