With direct X 9 is DD4 phased out? At school (if you haven''t seen the post) i get a different error. At home I get: "ddrawtest.obj : error LNK2001: unresolved external symbol _IID_IDirectDraw4" i have DirectX 9 at home, but 8.1 at school I wouldn''t be surprised if i forgot something, but i did add the ddraw.lib to the files and i have the path for the header files included. Thanks

DirectX is backward compatible. That is, with DX9 you still can request DX4 interfaces.

Direct X runtime is backward compatible but the Direct X SDK is not. If you want to develop using older interfaces you need the older SDKs.

I think that DD4 was availble in Direct X SDK for version 6.

You sure about that Anon?

I''m fairly sure you can program using any version of directx as long as you have the latest version of SDK.
