StretchBlt problems

When I try to StretchBlt my mask and sprite to the backBuffer, the mask seems to appear larger than the sprite and I get white crap in the background. Both function calls use the exact same parameters, and the mask is made by blitting to a monochrome bitmap. I''ve tried adjusting setStretchBltMode on the backbuffer but as yet nothing has been successful. A. is this a local machine problem or does it happen to everyone. B. How do I fix this? Any help would be appreciated
