game engine functions?

can any body please name the classes/functions that a good game engine has to have.i have some but i feel like these arent enough.here is a list of what i came up with: 3ds max import particle terrain camera lights collision detection ai what else should i include.

Model rendering, animation/physics, error checking/logging, perhaps level loading.

You may also want an interface to a scripting language.

Networking! Input (obviously). Sound, music.

Of course, a really good game-specific engine would have more than just these individual components (which can be found in pretty much any engine). It should work to make the game logic sections of your code as abstract as possible.
