what is cg language?

i assume you''re talking about nvidia''s Cg, which is a high-level shader language. it stands for "C for graphics" and the syntax is very close to C. You can use it to write pixel/vertex shader programs for gpu''s that support those features. it''s designed to be "cross platform" meaning it can be used on cards other than nvidia cards. it basically just compiles into DX or OpenGL shader code, which you can then use in your program. more info at developer.nvidia.com

No, cross platform means it works on Linux, Windows, MacOS, etc.

i guess i wasn''t clear. what i meant was that it works on hardware besides nvidia gpu''s.

i know what cross platform means. i couldn''t think of anything better to describe what i was trying to say at the time. that''s why i put it in quotes
