Does anyone know the maximum colour depth for the gba? Is it palette based? Also, i''m pretty sure the screen resolution is 240*160 but i''d like to have it verified.

I remember hearing something along those lines (in magazines etc...) before the release of the GBA.

Ummm, there certainly is more than one resolution, but as far as gameboy advance games go, they ONLY use 240x160. That is considering that is the actual size of the screen in pixels, it would be pointless to use anything else, remember the screen isn't analog like TV sets that are used by other consoles. The only other resolution is the resolution used by gameboy and gameboy color titles so that they can be properly played without being distorted. I'm assuming that "anonymous poster" hasn't played a gameboy advance game on his gameboy advance?

Anyways, the processor in the gameboy advance is 32 bit, that is where they get the "It's on par with psx" idea. SNES was 16 bit. I'm not sure how fast the GBA is, but psx ran around 30-33MHz, it actually varied between shipments. The SNES, if I remember was not fast at all, 2MHz? Anyways, I can't confirm this, if anyone knows the true speed, feel free to post it, I won't argue. It could be 12MHz for all I know. Anyways, GBA is certainly faster than the SNES. As far as color goes, it can usually display about 510 colors at one time. It generally has two palette sets, one 256 color palette for the background, and either a 256 colors palette or a 16x16 color palette for the characters, depending on what you want to use. In normal bitmap mode, it can display true color, as far as I know.
