Hi guys. I want to get a good compiler. What should I get? Metroworks Codewarrior or Visual C++.NET ? Does Metroworks support DirectX? Thank you in advance. Scott

There is a topic right below this one with an answer to your question.
Go MS V C++ .NET Standard because it is the "best". Which I''m currently waiting on (Damn CompUSA). Other wise get Devcpp which is also good which I also have.

Where beginning game developers go.
If you can afford .NET then deffinetly get it because its the standard(and it supports all DX since its made by MS). But Dev-C++ is free and there are many ports for DircetX.

No, VC .NET enterprise is the "best"

I personally wouldn''t suggest that he spend a bunch of money on something that you could get for free. I use MinGW32 with Dev-Cpp and am VERY happy with it. The ONLY time I ever wished I had VC++ was when I was first trying to get DX setup and working. I would suggest you at least try Dev-Cpp before you make a potentially large investment.
