Hello all I am wanting to pick up Java over the summer to add it to my arsenal and had a couple quick questions. What is a good compiler/developing environment? Second, what is a really good reference book? I would say intermediate to advanced near the end. Beginner would be ok as long as the book gets a little advanced at the end. I already know C++ pretty well so I think I can skip most of the beginning topics, loops and whatnot since they are basically the same in both. Thanks guys

I like Sun ONE Studio for programming in Java.

As for reference, you won''t need anything other then what''s already online (the entire Java API), which you can find at http://java.sun.com
