I used to use mode 13 all the time during the 20th century when it was the coolest thing ever, and I was going to use it again for a C project at school. However I can''t seem to find a way to enter mode 13. Microsoft''s graph.h and dos.h libraries are missing from VC++ 6 (stupid microsoft) so I can''t use those. I''ve been search the next but everything I''ve found seems to really on those headers to work. Does anyone know a way to use mode 13 with VC 6? If not is there an equally simple way the access the video card without using OpenGL or DirectX?
Use SDL - www.libsdl.org
You can do all the things you can do it mode 13h with this. You might have to learn a bit more stuff, but the lib comes with great examples of how to blit and draw pixels etc.

Create Console App. project.
Then:
_asm mov ah,13h
_asm int 10h
That does not work! (because of this f**ing protected mode)
You HAVE TO use a library like Dx or SDL, there''s simly no other way.
if you moved it into a device driver it would probaby be able to access it. but i think that''s mad beef.
