Console -> Capturing KB Input

Hey guys, I''m trying to write a new console for my app and I wanted to know what the best method for capturing KB input was. I tried using the DInput but because of the way it works, I sometimes get keyrepeats or delays. I like to setup so that its just like a text app... where one key press is one letter... with a slight delay b4 key repeating... Its built into windows so how do I apply it to my app?

If your only developing for windows...

I would suggest using the WM_CHAR messages in your Windows Procdure function (commonly called WindowProc).

Check for the message, then cast the WPARAM parameter into a TCHAR to get the character pressed in by the user. The input should act like windows does with typing...
