Need A Good Idea
Hi all, Im grade 10 Programming and were doing Visual Basic.. I need a good idea for a project that i can do for my Culmanating Task..
I was thinking of something like TicTacToe, COnnectFour, ect ...something that is easily done but can get very complicate with lots of code and you can add alot of new features to.
Got any more ideaS?
How about a game along the lines of "Chips Challenge"? Thats what a friend of mine did for his final VB project, and it worked well in VB.
Hey go for TicTacToe. It has been the first program I''ve done on every language I''ve learned. TicTacToe includes nothing too graphical, but with the use of controls, and user input, some AI, and a little logic
Definetly a good start.

About how much VB do you know? Answer this and maybe we'll have an easier time to be able to figure out a game project for you. Can you use DirectX in VB, have you ever used the Windows GDI through DLL calls, or have you only done programming with picture boxes and PaintPicture command?
EDIT: Damn, he was quicker than me! Yes Tic-Tac-Toe is good, it can also be programmed relatively quickly. However, maybe your course requires something more advanced.

We havnt learnt that much advanced stuff.. I think ill go with TicTacToe cuase i can concentrate on making food AI and making it lok pretty fancy
If i go with TicTacToe..anyone god any cool ideas for features that i could add to the basic game?
You could do it as a ''3d grid'' - not actually drawn in 3D, but with each layer drawn side-by-side, so you have to picture it in 3D in your head.
Of course, customizing grid size, number of layers, and length of line required... not to mention the difficulty of the AI...
I still reckon that a Chip''s Challenge style game, as someone suggested earlier, would be better. It''s a 2D tile-based game, where your character moves one tile at a time (no need to worry about being half-on or half-off a tile). Tiles represent walls, terrain types, or objects such as keys or bombs. It has massive opportunity for expansion, as you can add new game pieces or levels, not to mention sounds or music (heh, anyone remember the original Chip''s Challenge music under Win3.1?)
