What''s the most efficient way to make a text box in game? I mean like a text box that the user can type text into, press enter and have the program recognize what''s in the text box.

Is your game in DirectDraw? In Direct3D? Using GDI?

If you are a total wacko, you could even create a dialog resource then "pop it up" in your game. But you end up with a bizarre result, because you end up with the Application-style windows'' stereotypical dialog box, while your game probably has the traditional DOS-style feel... (clash of styles, if you like)

When you say ''efficient'', do you mean the easiest? or looks good? or just getting the quickest result, disregarding everything else?

Sorry, I should have been more specific.
I''m using direct3d. And you''re right, I would hate to use dialog boxes
I guess I shouldn''t have said efficient, basically I mean the easiest and quickest one to implement. It doesn''t have to be the fastest one, I need one real quickly. Should I use all d3d or is there some kind of exension that would help?
