well ive been doing console programming for the past 3 years...ive done MINIMAL - repeate: MINIMAL windows/mfc, opengl, and directx programming...enough to just have a sense of what it looks like. however i want to move onto something else from console now. what would be the best way to go about learning more of C++ and everything? go onto windows/mfc programming, opengl, directx, what?

Hello flypp3r.

I am a newbie myself, however consider this. To use OpenGL you need to create a window in Windows to paint on. To use DirectX you have to create a window as well.

However after creating the window I don''t think you need to touch things like Windows buttons etc as you mostly use the graphics API from that point.

So I think the best thing is if you consider what you find fun to do

there is another windowing api availible: gtk+ (or gtk-, if you use the c++ bindings). it''s kind of easier than its microsoft counterpart, and it''s main advantage is that it''s portable to unix.

maybe you''ll want to try it:
