I would guess 9800 Pro; I''ve been happy with it. If you want the very best, wait for the 256MB one, it''ll cost quite a bit more though. This one cost me about $430
Radeon 9800 Pro.
My advice to you is : dont wait.

There will ALWAYS be something better coming out, so if you wait for a better card you will always face the same problem.
I''m waiting for the geforce 5... I''m hoping it''s smaller and quieter than the FX. I don''t care if I shouldn''t wait... I''m going to.

The Geforce FX 5200, which can be had around $80-100.
This is, however, purely a "poor developer''s" card, with all the DX9 features supported, but with performance somewhere between the terrible GF4MXs and GF4Ti4200.

You should be able to pick a Radeon 8500LE or Ti4200/64MB for about $100-120, which provide a decent performance, but are only DX8.1 in terms of features.
