Direct3D8 Custom Cursor

Hi, I''ve been trying to figure out a way to draw a custom cursor using Direct3D8 in windowed mode. I succeeded to a point. However, my cursor doesn''t draw when the mouse move off then window. Does anyone know how to return the original mouse when it is off the window? Thanks
