I''d like to use the iostream model of C++ to write a binarystream class that allows use of manipulators such as >> and <<. I know the stream model uses several different classes, and I''m not sure where I would write mine so that it would behave as much like normal streams as possible.

The main task is in deriving a new streambuf class, really. You don''t need a new stream class, but if you write one you save yourself a couple of lines of code each time in not having to explicitly assign the binary streambuf to an istream.
